Question by Gia: How were Jewish homes given away during the Holocaust?
I’ve read many stories from survivor’s about when they returned home, in hopes of being reunited with their family, only to find strangers living in their homes.
The strangers often said it was not their home anymore & leave. Of people that moved into Jewish homes after the Jewish residents hey were killed and deported( among other things) how did the strangers come to live in the houses?
Did they just find an empty home & claim it? Put on some government list? How do the strangers end up as inhabitants?

The Nazis required that all Jews register with their local authority. … During such registrations, vital statistics (including the property they owned) was taken. … When they were sent off to the concentration camps, their IDs were check against the records kept by the local authorities. … The property which was registered was then “confiscated” by the local authority and either given or sold to “good German folk”.

Greg Walz, Northwestern Mutual
Greg Walz is a Managing Director for Northwestern Investment Management Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he is responsible for directing and managing the mortgage loan investment activities and portfolio management for the eastern portion of the United States. Prior to this position, Walz was responsible for managing the Atlanta Regional Office for 25 years investing in both debt and equity investments along with oversight of the portfolio, including asset dispositions.
Walz holds a B.A. and a M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. He joined NAIOP in 1985 and is also a member of ICSC. Walz serves on the Board for NAIOP Wisconsin. He is a member of the Capital Markets III National Forum.

Land For Sale In Georgia-land Ownership Vs Mineral Rights Who Has More Rights
You might be thinking that if you buy the property you must be buying the mineral rights too. Wrong! If you have purchased land before, you may not even know if you have purchased the mineral rights or not. One reason you may not know is because the realtor wanted the deal closed or possibly because the land owner did not make public whether he sold the mineral rights. There are several ways that you could end up with land but not mineral rights. You might be asking yourself why does it matter? Well, mineral rights are separate from land ownership. It would matter a lot to you if you dont own the mineral rights if once you bought the land for sale in Mississippi the owner of the mineral rights gets an offer from an oil company to lease the minerals. Next thing you know your property is inundated with equipment, exploration attempts, and loud noises from drilling efforts. And then the property resale values might decrease.
If you buy property for sale in Georgia without mineral rights, you can never put the mineral rights back together with the property in one document. Thats just something to think about. If the owner of the mineral rights leases to the oil company, really the oil company now owns the mineral rights.
In the state of Georgia the Supreme Court holds that the mineral rights are superior to the surface rights, which sounds very disturbing. The oil and gas company will promise to hold disturbances to a minimum, especially in a residential area, but you know that if it is called for further exploration they can get away with entering your land without warning and unless the damage if found to be malicious there is nothing you can do about it. And if this happens on property that you own without the mineral rights just know that every month someone else is making a pretty penny from the drilling on your property and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
After reading this blog I hope that you at least will think about mineral rights when you purchase land for sale in Georgia before its too late. Always check your purchase agreement and talk about the mineral rights with your land broker, if it is not covered in the contract and you sign it the purchase agreement your shot at the mineral are gone forever. Try and predicate your contract on at least one thing that will give you a legitimate reason to back out of the contract. Or you might just want to move to the next piece of property for sale in Georgia that you have your eye on.

I am wondering if my skills are in demand and if people are having this type of work done in and around Milwaukee, any additional info about remodeling/hardwood flooring in the area would be very helpfull

Gosh there are loads of homes in the Milwaukee, Racine area that date back to the turn of the 1900s and I am sure they have wooden floors (at least my Grandparent’s home and great Grandparent’s homes did) so I would think there would be much work available for you. Check with the business association there to see how many people are in your line of work. Good luck and if you need to do landscaping on your home while living there go see my cousins at Milaeger’s Nusery in Racine.
